For the Fup calcs for part (b) and (c) at the last, the first term inside the bracket, that's the acceleration due to gravity, shouldn't it be taken as -9.8m/s2?! (based on the positive y direction considers as upwards)..... the answer to part (B) still remains the same, but the answer to part (c) comes as 2479.4N... please guide.... Thanks so much!...

Hello, thank you for the question. The factor gg is meant to be the magnitude of the acceleration due to gravity, which means normally substituting 9.8 m/s29.8\textrm{ m/s}^2 for it. The negative, to indicate the downward direction, is already accounted for in the net force formula when there is a minus in front of the FgF_g term.
